How to Connect to University Wi-Fi on a Windows PC
Step 1 – Open your Wi-Fi settings First, you’ll want to go into your network settings by clicking on the network icon in the bottom right of your screen. Once there, you should see the Wi-Fi settings like this: Step 2 – Connect to PioneerNet Click on “PioneerNet” and then click "Connect" to connect to our Wi-Fi. Step 3 – Log in In order to use our Wi-Fi, you’ll need to log in using your University account information. It’ll ask you for a username and password, which should be the same as what you use to log into University computers and your email without the @pointpark.edu. Step 4 – Continue connecting Finally, you should get a message that pops up and looks a little something like this: All you need to do is click “Connect” to let your computer know that you know which network you're connecting to. Step 5 – Enjoy That’s it! You should now see that your computer has a secure connection with our “PioneerNet” Wi-Fi network. How to Connect to University Wi-Fi on a Mac
Step 1 – Open your Wi-Fi settings The first thing you’ll want to do is go into your Wi-Fi settings by clicking the Wi-Fi icon at the top right of your screen. Step 2 – Connect to PioneerNet Click on “PioneerNet” to connect to our Wi-Fi. Step 3 – Log in In order to use our Wi-Fi, you’ll need to log in using your University account information. It’ll ask you for a username and password, which should be the same as what you use to log into University computers and your email without the @pointpark.edu. Step 4 – Verify the certificate Next, you should get a window that pops up and looks a little something like this: All you need to do is click the “Continue” button. Step 5 – Log in again After clicking the "Continue" button, you should get a window that asks you to log in again: This is just to let your computer know that you've verified the certificate and that you trust us. Your username should be automatically entered, so you just need to enter your University password and click the "Update Settings" button. Step 6 – Enjoy That’s it! You should now see that your computer is connected to our “PioneerNet” Wi-Fi network. How to Connect to University Wi-Fi on an iPhone or iPad
Step 1 – Open your Wi-Fi settings The first thing you’ll want to do is go into the Settings app on your iPhone. Once there, you should see the Wi-Fi settings section appear as an option like this: Go ahead and tap on the section that says Wi-Fi, which should bring you to a new page. Step 2 – Connect to PioneerNet With the new page that pops up, you should see a section called “Other Networks” with the “PioneerNet” network inside of it. Tap on “PioneerNet” to connect to our Wi-Fi and a new page should open up. Step 3 – Log in In order to use our Wi-Fi, you’ll need to log in using your University account information. It’ll ask you for a username and password, which should be the same as what you use to log into University computers and your email without the @pointpark.edu. Step 4 – Trust the certificate Finally, you should get a message that pops up and looks a little something like this: All you need to do is tap “Trust” in the top right corner to let your iPhone know that you trust us. Step 5 – Enjoy That’s it! You should now see a little check mark next to the “PioneerNet” network that means you’re connected to our Wi-Fi. How to Connect to University Wi-Fi on an Android Device
Step 1 – Open your Wi-Fi settings The first thing you’ll want to do is go into your Wi-Fi settings. Step 2 – Connect to PioneerNet You should see "PioneerNet" among the list of networks you can connect to. Tap on “PioneerNet” to connect to our Wi-Fi; a new page should open up. Step 3 – Enter some details In order to connect to the Wi-Fi, you'll need to make sure all the details on this page are correct before you log in. EAP method: PEAP Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2 CA certificate: Use system certificates Domain: pointpark.edu Step 4 – Log in Once all the details listed above are correct, you'll need to log in using your University account email and password. Please note that you will need to use your full email address, including "@pointpark.edu," under the "Identity" section. Step 5 – Enjoy That’s it! You should now be connected to the “PioneerNet” network. How to Connect to University Wi-Fi on a Smart Device or Game System
In order to connect these devices, you'll need to register them and then connect them to our "PioneerNet-PSK" network. Step 1 – Find your MAC address In order to begin, you'll need to locate the Wireless/Wi-Fi MAC address of the device you're trying to connect. MAC addresses have a format of 00:00:00:00:00:00 or 00-00-00-00-00-00, with the zeros being replaced by numbers and letters. If you're unsure how to find your device's MAC address, a quick Google search should be able to help out. Step 2 – Register your device The next step is to register your device over at mydevices.pointpark.edu. You'll need to be connected to the University Wi-Fi in order to access that site, so be sure your phone, tablet, or computer is connected to our network. Once you're there, you should see a login page: It'll ask you for your University username and password, which should be the same as what you use to log into University computers and your email without the @pointpark.edu. Next, you'll just need to click the "Continue" button on the following page, which should look something like this: Once you've clicked the "Continue" button, you'll be brought to the page where you can see and manage your devices. When you first log in, it should look something like this: Click on the "Add" button to add a device to the list of registered devices. You should be brought to a page that looks like this: Here is where you'll fill out your device's information so it can be registered. It asks for the following information: Device Name: The name you want to give your device (no apostrophe's allowed) Device ID: Your device's Wireless/Wi-Fi MAC address, not the Wired/Ethernet MAC address Description: The description you want to give your device After you fill out the information, click on the "Submit" button. Please note that you can register up to 15 devices and that it can take up to 10 minutes for your device to be registered. It will continue to say "Pending" until you log in with that device for the first time. Step 3 – Connect to PioneerNet-PSK Once you've registered your device on our portal, you'll be able to join the "PioneerNet-PSK" network. Select that network on your device and use the passphrase "Pioneers!" in order to connect your device. Step 4 – Enjoy That’s it! Your smart device or game system should be connected to the "PioneerNet-PSK" network and ready for use.
