Password Policy

1. Passwords for all end users expire every 90 day as suggested by external IT auditors. All end users are notified via a bar above their webmail and via the computer login screens on campus when your password is about to expire.

a. Note: If a password is not changed before it expires, the end user must contact the IT Help Desk in order to have a new temporary password granted

2. Be aware that when and IT Help Desk representative resets your password that it is only temporary; you must pick your own password afterwards in order to access the systems on or off campus.

3. After three invalid passwords have been attempted your account will automatically be locked. The end user will need to contact The IT Help Desk in order to be able to access their account again.

4. Under any circumstances be sure to never give anyone your username or password.

a. Note: The IT Department will never ask for your password, so beware scam e-mails asking for your credentials and personal information.
